NAPA RIVER INN
EMBARKS ON PROGRAM FOR “HUMAN’S BEST FRIEND”

September, 2000, Napa Valley California - The Napa River Inn, downtown Napa’s only upscale boutique hotel, is prepared to cater to the needs of not only the discriminating guest, but the guest’s best friend, too.  At this newly opened luxury property, the VIP pro-gram has been created for your Very Important Pet.

Not content with merely allowing pets, Napa River Inn has produced a unique pet pack-age which includes a custom-designed pet blanket embroidered with the property logo, a distinctive color-coordinated logo placemat for the cleverly designed stainless steel food and water bowls, plus Napa Valley-based Char-Dog-Nay dog biscuits for treat time.  Insuring preparedness and social responsibility, the package also includes individually wrapped plastic Doggie Walk Bags.

As with any luxury property, the VIP package includes a personal letter from General Manager Nancy Lochmann welcoming VIP’s and outlining the guidelines and services available for the special guests and their people.  Bell staff may be scheduled to host an afternoon or evening stroll along the river walk and a house veterinarian is on-call for any possible medical emergencies.

Since special guests often wish to take home a souvenir of their travels, the complete VIP package of blanket, mat, bowls, dog biscuits and walk bags are artfully packaged in a basket and available at the hotel’s gift shop.
GM Lochmann says, “Many of our guests find their travel limited by responsibility to their special furry friends.  Here they can enjoy themselves without the guilt of leaving their best friend at home.  We love pets, too, so we decided to make it easy for everyone involved.”

The Napa River Inn anchors the historic2.5-acre Napa Mill Project on the picturesque Napa River.  Originally built in 1884 and designated a National Registry Historic Land-mark, the Napa Mill Project is the largest historic redevelopment undertaking in the history of Napa.  In addition to the Napa River Inn, the Napa Mill Project and will house a variety of restaurants, Epicurean food markets, boutique shops, a farmer’s market, an arts and crafts market, plus an ongoing schedule of special events, festivals and river activities.

The Napa River Inn’s historic Hatt Building rooms feature oversized quarters with fire-places, canopy beds, tufted lounge chairs, velvet ottomans, slipper tubs and walk-in showers. Located on the upper level of the 1884-vintage building, these historic rooms have maple hardwood floors, massive cove and baseboard moldings and offer an historic perspective of the Napa Valley while providing the convenience of modern amenities.  Art in the Hatt Building rooms is reflective of aburgeoning river town of the 1800’s.

The Hatt Building features two meeting rooms – The Keig Board Room, accommodating up to 12 people, and Hatt Hall with banquet and meeting accommodations for up to 100 people.  Hatt Hall’s interior appointments include the original pressed tin wall panels and deep cove moldings, originally installed in the space when it was a music room in the late1800’s.  Both spaces offer state-of-the-art audiovisual equipment and are equipped with data ports, up to 24 in Hatt Hall.

The Embarcadero is situated directly on the river with many rooms having river views. Designed with an elegant yacht in mind, the rooms feature a cheery theme of yellow in the wall coverings and furnishings with cherry wood wainscoting and coffered paneling. Round mirrors in carved-rope frames reflect the fireplaces and graceful roman shades in each room.  Granite counters on the custom-crafted bath vanities add to the luxury of the stone-tiled bathrooms, some with separate walk-in showers.

All accommodations at the Napa River Inn include California breakfast, electronic room key card, individually controlled air conditioning and heating, in-room coffee with premium roasted coffee, 25” cable TV with movies and video games, daily newspaper, in-room checkout, refrigerators, CD clock radios, grape seed formulated Napa Valley Spa Champagne amenities, irons and boards, hairdryers, make-up mirrors and nightlights.
The business traveler will appreciate two telephones in every room with voice mail, plus voice and data-ports, the full-service conference facilities, a complete business service center, as well as same day cleaning and laundry Monday through Saturday.

Services available to the Napa River Inn guest include in-room massage, convenient San Francisco and Oakland airport transportation, catering services and complimentary concierge services for the Napa Valley’s wide range of winery, restaurant, golf, hot-air ballooning, glider and horseback riding opportunities.

Greenhaus Spa onsite at the Napa River Inn features a broad scope of health and beauty spa treatments, including facials, masks, peels, waxing, massage, wraps and a complete program of spa packages.  Open Window Gifts & Flowers and Geezer’s restaurant are al-ready open at the Napa Mill Project and 5 Star Yacht charter company is operating from the dock.  Sweetie Pies bakery opens in September, followed by Napa Wine Works and The Sweet Shoppe.
The Napa River Inn is the first completed phase of the downtown Napa major renovation and redevelopment. With the nearby $70 million American Center for Wine, Food and the Arts only a short walk away, the Jarvis Music Conservatory up the street, the Napa Opera House restoration just two blocks away and the Napa Wine Train across the river, hotel guests have a wide selection of nearby interests to pursue.

Visitors may arrive at the Napa River Inn via boat on the Napa River and use the City of Napa River dock.  The newly approved $250,000,000Napa River Restoration Project, to be completed over the course of the next seven years, will add a series of river trails, water access and nature hikes to the broad complement of activities for Napa River Inn guests.
The third and final hotel building, the Plaza, is scheduled to open January,2000.
The Napa River Inn is located at 500 Main Street, Napa, CA94559.  Rates range from $149-$349 through March 31, 2001.  In-room pet accommodations and free use of the VIP package during your stay is an additional $25.00 charge.  The VIP product package may be purchased for$79.99.  For more information, please call 707.251.8500, toll-free877.251.8500 or visit the website at www.napariverinn.com.
